Sorority Recruitment Fashion Tips
Screaming, dancing, girls flirting with girls. These things can only mean it is one time of the year: formal sorority recruitment.
Formal sorority recruitment is a stressful time for college girls, whether you’re the girl trying to join a house or whether you’re the girl deciding who should be the newest members of the house you’re proud to call your own.
It’s stressful for many reasons, among them being finding what house is right for you, getting from house to house and keeping the conversation going. But among all of those, figuring out what to wear is undoubtedly the most stressful part.
So here are some tips and tricks for what to wear during sorority recruitment no matter what side you’re on.
Wear Shoes You Can Walk In
No matter what school you go to, sorority rush has some long days. You will be on your feet for at least a couple of hours so why punish yourself more than you have to by wearing ungodly high heels?
The best advice for sorority rush is to only wear heels for the rounds that you have to. If you don’t need to wear heels for a round don’t do it, and when you do need to wear heels, pick a pair that you can walk in; sorority rush is not the time for you to break out your tallest pair of stripper-like heels. Instead, stick to a practical pair of heels with a heel that’s around 3 inches at most.
For the girls going through recruitment, you’ll appreciate this if you’re going to be walking from house to house. For girls doing the recruiting, you’ll appreciate this when you’re walking up and down the stairs of your house countless times in one day. Just save yourself the trouble and keep your heels reasonable.
Crop Tops Are A Huge No No
As a sorority girl myself, I can say from experience that countless girls walk through the doors of sorority houses wearing crop tops. I don’t really understand girls’ inclination to wear a crop top to formal recruitment, but they do it. And it’s not just a few girls, there’s tons of them doing it!
I hate to break it to you ladies, but if you’re attending any event with the word formal in it, a crop top should NOT be your go-to choice of clothing. For a formal event, you should be looking classy and well-put together.
And while it is true that crop tops can look tasteful, they just aren’t appropriate for this occasion. Crop tops are meant to be casual wear and they are meant to be worn when you’re going out.
For the purpose of sorority rush, these midriff bearing shirts simply don’t work. After all, the whole point of rush is to impress girls, not guys. While your crop top may make a girl that’s rushing you take notice, it won’t be for the right reasons. The best advice: opt for a shirt with full coverage for sorority rush!
Less Is More
When it comes to your makeup for sorority recruitment, less is more. This goes for girls on both sides.
No girl who is doing the recruiting wants to see a potential new member walk into her house with her face caked with makeup. It doesn’t look classy or pretty, which is the overall look you should be going for when going through recruitment.
On the flip side, it is also not impressive to the girls going through rush to see a girl in a particular house wearing a ton of makeup because they then might not have a very favorable view of the house. That being said, keep your makeup looking natural throughout rush to avoid any issues.
Keep Your Undergarments Hidden
This is more of an all-around life tip, rather than just a sorority recruitment tip. If you’re wearing something that has even a remote possibility of showing your undergarments, wear a nude bra and underwear.
Many girls make the mistake of wearing white or a light yellow thinking that it can’t be seen beneath your shirt or dress, but trust me, it can! Nude will blend in with your skin tone to make sure no one will see any of your undergarments
Going nude is not the only thing to keep in mind. Make sure that you can’t see the straps of your bra or any visible panty line. Invest in a strapless bra, sticky boobs, strap perfect, thong, seamless underwear or whatever else you may need to ensure that no one sees your bra or underwear.
There are so many different bras and underwear out there that exist because of this problem that you will find what you need.
While it can be a little stressful deciding what to wear for this process, these tips are sure to help.
Sorority rush is a stressful time for a lot of girls for various reasons. But keep these sorority recruitment tips and tricks in mind when you’re going through it to ensure that what you wear is the least of your worries!
